Abstract

Two operated cases of congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis are reported.
The first case, a two week old male and a first child, started projectile vomiting which was occasionally stained with bile. No Pyloric mass was palpated in the R.U.Q. but a dilated stomach and delayed emptying time were demonstrated by upper G-1 series. Fredet Ramstedt pyloromyotomy was performed a week following the onset of symptoms.
The second case, five week old male and the second son, started projectile vomiting. Vomitus was not stained with bile at any time. A pyloric mass was palpated in the R.U.Q.
Fredet-Ramstedt pyloromyotomy was performed six days after the other accompanying symptoms subsided immediately following the above operation, and further observation showed normal development of the babies in gaining weight.
Review of the literature concerning congenital hypertrophic pyloric stenosis was done.
